I heard a router walked into a bar. The bartender said, 'We don't serve your type here.' The router replied, 'I don't want to be served, I just want to be redistributed.'

I'll go with the OSPF internal preference. Seems like the most logical choice, even though I'm still a bit confused about the whole IS-IS and OSPF interplay. At least it's not the 'IS-IS Level 1 external preference' - that one just sounds made up!

I think the OSPF internal preference makes sense too.

The OSPF external preference? Really? That doesn't make any sense in this scenario. I think the candidates need to revisit their understanding of routing protocols and redistribution.

The IS-IS Level 1 internal preference should be the correct choice.

I agree, the OSPF external preference doesn't apply here.

I'm not sure about this one. Shouldn't the IS-IS Level 1 internal preference be the answer since the routers are L1/L2 capable and in the same area?

The OSPF internal preference is the correct answer. If the route is redistributed from IS-IS to OSPF, the OSPF internal route will have a higher preference over the IS-IS routes.

I believe the OSPF external preference and the IS-IS Level 1 external preference might also play a role in route selection.

I agree with you. The OSPF internal preference and the IS-IS Level 2 internal preference would determine the route selection.

I think the preference of the two routes will be based on the OSPF internal preference and the IS-IS Level 2 internal preference.
