Wait, are you sure about C? I thought it was in the liver.

Wait, there's a vitamin D3? I thought it was just called "the sunshine vitamin."

Haha, who needs vitamins when you can just sunbathe all day? Vitamin D3 is overrated anyway.

E is the correct answer. Skin activates the synthesis of vitamin D3 by sunlight.

C is the correct answer. Vitamin D3 is hydroxylated in the liver, not the kidney.

I recall that the skin does synthesize vitamin D3 with sunlight, so E should be true. That leaves us with A or C as possible false statements.

I practiced a question similar to this, and I think parathyroid hormone does play a role in activating vitamin D3 in the kidneys, so D seems correct.

I'm not entirely sure, but I feel like vitamin C's role in vitamin D3 metabolism is not really a thing, so A could be the answer.

Hmm, I think D is the false statement here. Parathyroid hormone doesn't activate the metabolism of vitamin D3 in the kidney, it's the other way around - the kidney activates vitamin D3 metabolism.

I'm a bit unsure about this one. I know vitamin D3 metabolism involves the liver and kidneys, but I'm not totally clear on the specifics. I'll have to review my notes before answering.

I remember learning that the liver is involved in the hydroxylation of vitamin D3, so I think C is the correct answer. The other options seem like they might be false statements.

I think I remember that vitamin D3 is primarily hydroxylated in the liver first, so maybe option C is false?

I think A is the false statement. Vitamin C doesn't help with D3 absorption.

Totally agree, D3 hydroxylation happens in the kidney!

No, C is actually true. Hydroxylation in the liver is a step, but not the main one.

Okay, I'm pretty sure the skin activates the synthesis of vitamin D3 by sunlight, so that rules out E. But the rest of these are a bit confusing.

Hmm, this seems like a tricky one. I'll need to really think through the metabolism of vitamin D3 to get this right.
