You are configuring the year-end setup in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

You need to configure the year-end setup to meet the following requirements:

The accounting adjustments that are received in the first quarter must be able to be posted in to the previous year's Period 13.

The fiscal year closing can be run again, but only the most recent closing entry will remain in the transactions.

All dimensions from profit and loss must carry over into the retained earnings.

All future and previous periods must have an On Hold status.

Solution:

Configure General ledger parameters.

- Set the Delete close of year transactions option to Yes.

- Set the Create closing transactions during transfer option to Yes.

- Set the Fiscal year status to permanently closed option to No.

Define the Year-end close template.

- Designate a retained earnings main account for each legal entity.

- Set the Financial dimensions will be used on the Opening transactions option to No.

- Set the Transfer profit and loss dimensions' option to Close All.

Set future Ledger periods to a status of On Hold.

Does the solution meet the goal?

Wait, can you really run the fiscal year closing again? That seems odd.

I disagree, I think the dimensions carryover might cause issues.

I feel like the retained earnings setup is crucial, and I hope the option for "Close All" dimensions is the right choice.

I'm a bit confused about the "On Hold" status for future periods. Does that really align with the requirement?

I remember a similar practice question where we had to ensure dimensions carried over. I hope that part is correctly addressed here.

Okay, I think I've got a good grasp on the overall approach here. The key is configuring the General Ledger parameters and the Year-end close template properly. As long as I follow the steps in the solution, I should be able to meet all the requirements.

Hmm, I'm a little unsure about the "Delete close of year transactions" option. Does that mean it will delete all the previous year's closing entries? I'll need to double-check that to make sure I understand the implications.

Okay, the key requirements here are being able to post accounting adjustments to the previous year's Period 13, running the fiscal year closing again while keeping only the most recent entry, carrying over all profit and loss dimensions to retained earnings, and setting all future and previous periods to On Hold status. The solution seems to cover all of those, so I think I've got a good handle on how to approach this.

I like how the solution ensures the most recent closing entry remains, and that all dimensions from profit and loss carry over into the retained earnings. Looks good to me!
