I’m really uncertain about this one. I thought we connected to a certificate store for some authentication scenarios, but that doesn’t seem right here.
An Azure key vault would make sense for storing and retrieving security-related information, including tokens. I'll make sure to read the question closely before answering.
Azure Active Directory is where user identities and access permissions are managed, so that's my best guess for where an application would connect to get security tokens.
