Question #: 35
Topic #: 6
[All ISSAP Questions]

You are responsible for security at a defense contracting firm. You are evaluating various possible encryption algorithms to use. One of the

algorithms you are examining is not integer based, uses shorter keys, and is public key based. What type of algorithm is this?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

shorter key than integer based algorithms, and still obtains the same level of security.

Answer option B is incorrect. While integer based methods are the most common, they are not the only encryption algorithms.

Answer option D is incorrect. RSA is integer based, it uses the product of two very large prime numbers (i.e. integers).

It's definitely Elliptic Curve! Shorter keys are a big plus.

I’m a bit confused; I thought all public key algorithms were integer based, but maybe elliptic curve is an exception?

I'm not entirely sure, but I feel like the question is hinting at something like elliptic curve since it’s not integer based.

I remember studying public key algorithms, and I think elliptic curve cryptography uses shorter keys compared to RSA.

I practiced a similar question before, and I think RSA is definitely integer based, so it can't be the answer here.

Okay, so the ping to CPPM is successful, but the authentication is still failing. I wonder if there could be an issue with the RADIUS/EAP certificate on the CPPM side. Renewing that might be a good next step.
