Actual exam question for ISC2's ISSAP exam
Question #: 50
Topic #: 4
[All ISSAP Questions]

Which of the following are the goals of a public key infrastructure (PKI)?

Each correct answer represents a part of the solution. Choose all that apply.

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A, D, E, F

Confidentiality: A PKI encrypts stored or transmitted data.

Integrity: A PKI digitally signs the data. A digital signature can identify whether the data is modified by another user or not.

Authenticity: A PKI uses several authentication methods to authenticate the users. Authentication data produces a message digest by

passing through hash algorithms. The message digest is digitally signed by using the sender's private key to verify that this message

digest is produced by the sender.

Nonrepudiation: The digital signature of the data offers a way to proof the integrity and origin of the data. A third party can verify this

integrity and origin of the data at any time. The owner of the certificate cannot disprove this verification.

Answer options C and B are incorrect. These are not the goals of a public key infrastructure.

I feel like globalization doesn’t really belong in this context. I’m leaning towards A, D, E, and F for sure.

I think nonrepudiation is definitely a goal of PKI, but I’m a bit confused about whether mobility fits in there.

I remember that PKI is all about ensuring authenticity and integrity, but I’m not sure if globalization is a goal.

I practiced a similar question, and I think authenticity, integrity, and confidentiality are key goals. Nonrepudiation seems right too!

The Fair Credit Reporting Act seems like the most relevant option, but I want to double-check that it's considered part of federal privacy law specifically. I'll review my notes to make sure.

I'm a bit unsure about this one. I know the Profile feature is used for managing user access, but I'm not entirely sure which specific options would allow limiting views. I'll need to think this through carefully.
