You work in the billing department of your agency and while processing claims, you notice the name of someone you know. Since you are curious, you decide to investigate and you pull their medical record and read it. Is this appropriate?
I’m a bit confused. I thought there might be exceptions for family or friends, but now I’m not so sure. I guess it’s best to err on the side of caution.
I definitely recall that we learned about the importance of protecting patient information. It feels wrong to look at someone's medical record just because you know them.
I’m not entirely sure, but I feel like we had a similar question in practice about privacy laws. I think the answer was no, but I could be mixing it up.
I think this situation is tricky. I remember discussing patient confidentiality in class, and it seems like accessing records without a reason could be a violation.
Option C seems too simple, I don't think just running the entire program on Sundays is the best solution. I'd want to explore the other options to find a more elegant and efficient approach.
