You know what they say, 'Sharing is caring' - unless it's software licenses. Then it's just 'Fining is whining.'

This is a classic case of software piracy! D is the only correct answer. Making unauthorized copies is illegal, even if it's just for backup or internal use. The manager should have known better.

I'm pretty sure the answer is A. Both copies are legal because the department purchased the software and can use it as they see fit, right? I mean, it's not like they're selling the copies or anything.

Exactly. They're just using it internally, so it should be within the terms of the license.

I think you're right. As long as they're not distributing the copies, it should be fine.

Hmm, this seems tricky. I'm going to go with D. Neither copy is legal since the original license was for internal use only, and making additional copies exceeds that.

I think the correct answer is B. Only copy 1 is legal since it's solely for backup purposes, which is usually allowed under copyright law.
