An administrator wants to start the LifeCycle Manager service.

How can this be done?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

Administrators use the retention rule update task to specify the number of reports, queries, analyses, and document objects to keep in the content store. You can specify how long to keep the history and output versions in the content store. Anything that is older than the date you specify is deleted from the content store.

Run this task only after creating and running the content archival task. If you run it before, content that was not marked for archival is permanently deleted from the content store.

Hey, at least they didn't ask how to uninstall the LifeCycle Manager. That would probably involve a ritual sacrifice and a voodoo doll.

Option D? Really? Who types a URL into a browser to start a service? That's just plain silly. I'm going with C - it's the only one that makes sense to me.

Hmm, I'm torn between options A and C. I wonder if the exam is trying to catch me out by having two seemingly valid options. Guess I'll have to think this one through carefully.

I was going to say option B, but then I remembered that the LifeCycle Manager service is part of IBM Cognos, not just a generic Windows service. Gotta love these tricky certification questions!

I'm not sure, but I think option C) Use the lcm_start.bat command could also work.
