Ah, I see what you mean. But what about 1310 nm? Wouldn't that be a bit too short to effectively pump erbium?

You know, I think you're right. 1510 nm seems a bit high. I'd say the best options are 980 nm and 1480 nm.

Yeah, that's a good point. I remember from my studies that erbium has absorption peaks around 980 nm and 1480 nm, so those would be the logical choices.
