I'm not sure, but I think D) The name node will not initiate the initiative RPC, but rings should come from customer end and RPC requests for data nodes makes sense too.

Option B sounds a bit off. I'm pretty sure the client interacts directly with the DataNodes, not through the MapReduce protocol.

I think option D is wrong. The NameNode can initiate RPC requests to the DataNodes, it's not just the client that can make those requests.
