Client server resources are limited but there is sufficient network bandwidth. What kind of deduplication strategy should be used if the client data needs to be backed up to the physical tape?
I'm a bit confused about whether source or target deduplication is better in this scenario. I know both have their pros and cons, but I can't remember which one is more efficient for tape backups.
I feel like we practiced a question similar to this, and I think the key was to balance the deduplication process with the limited resources. Maybe a hybrid approach could work?
I remember something about target deduplication being useful for tape storage, but I can't recall the specifics. Did we cover how it affects backup speed?
I think we might want to consider source deduplication since it reduces the amount of data sent over the network, but I'm not entirely sure if that's the best option for tape backups.
Ah, I see. With the network bandwidth available, server-side deduplication could be the sweet spot to balance client resources and backup efficiency. Time to dig into the details.
