Actual exam question for HP's HPE6-A73 exam
Question #: 115
Topic #: 5
[All HPE6-A73 Questions]

An administrator has an aggregation layer of 8325CX switches configured as a VSX pair. The administrator is

concerned that when OSPF network changes occur, the aggregation switches will respond to the changes

slowly, and this will affect network connectivity, especially VoIP calls, in the connected access layer switches.

What should the administrator do on the aggregation layer switches to alleviate this issue?D18912E1457D5D1DDCBD40AB3BF70D5D

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

'BFD tests the connectivity between two IP addresses in a BFD session. BFD reports when connectivity is lost. The router (or routing switch) can then use that information to take the appropriate actions, depending on the functions to which you have tied BFD'

I believe implementing bidirectional forwarding detection (BFD) could also be a good solution to alleviate the issue.

Graceful restart is the way to go, man. Keep that network traffic flowing smoothly, even when things go down. Plus, it's like a gentle reboot for your switches - no one's the wiser.

I agree with Terina, faster hello and dead interval timers would definitely improve network connectivity for VoIP calls.

Reduce the hello and dead interval timers? Sounds like a quick fix, but won't that just make the network more jittery? I'd go for the BFD option, get that fast failure detection in there.

Yeah, BFD will provide faster detection without compromising network stability. It's the best choice.

I think reducing the hello and dead interval timers could help speed up the response to OSPF network changes.
