This is why we double-check our work, folks. I'm guessing Dave just got a little too eager and forgot to verify the API name. Classic case of option D.
Option C seems the most likely to me. The 'Re-Create Feature Branch' checkbox is crucial, and if Dave missed that, no wonder he didn't see a new branch pop up.

I'd say it's option A. If the base branch was set to master and the component wasn't in production, deleting it wouldn't require a feature branch. Simple as that.
Hmm, I'm guessing it's option D. Dave must have typo'd the API name, and that's why the feature branch wasn't created. Rookie mistake, but we've all been there, right?
B) Not having the rights to delete the component? Classic. Dave should have checked his permissions before diving in. Gotta cover all your bases, my friend.
D) Definitely the answer here. Dave's gotta be more careful with those metadata API names. One misspelled character and your whole delete operation goes down the drain. Tsk, tsk.

Ah, the classic case of the missing feature branch! Looks like Dave's got himself in a pickle. I bet he's kicking himself for not creating that branch first. Rookie mistake, really.
