Question #: 69
Topic #: 9
[All APSCE Questions]

How does a Call Activity component differ from a Subprocess component?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

https://docs.alfresco.com/process-services1.6/topics/call_activity.html

A call activity is used to execute another process definition as part of the current process instance.

The main difference between a sub-process and a call activity is that the call activity does not share context with the process instance. Process variables are explicitly mapped between the process instance and the call activity.

I think it's interesting how they handle execution differently!

Wait, are you sure about that? I thought they shared more.

I thought a Call Activity could be executed inline, but now I'm questioning if that's correct. I need to double-check my study materials.

Wasn't there something about Call Activities being synchronous? I feel like I mixed that up with Subprocesses in my notes.

I think I practiced a question where it mentioned that Call Activities can be executed in a different context than Subprocesses.

I remember something about Call Activities not sharing the full context, but I'm not sure if that's the main difference.

I've got a good strategy for this - I'll focus on the key differences like synchronous execution and inline execution, and try to eliminate the incorrect options.

Okay, let me think this through. I know Call Activity doesn't share the full process instance context, but I'm not sure about the other differences.

Hmm, I think the key here is understanding the difference between RTO and RPO. I'll need to review those definitions carefully.

Oh man, these process components are like a secret language sometimes. But I'm pretty sure the answer is D. Gotta share that context, am I right?

Hmm, I'm gonna go with A. A Call Activity doesn't share the full process instance context, that's a key difference from a Subprocess. Can't be too careful on these exams, you know.

B seems correct to me. A Call Activity is always executed synchronously, unlike a Subprocess which can be asynchronous. Easy peasy!

Yes, that's correct. A Subprocess can be asynchronous, but a Call Activity is always synchronous.

I think the answer is D. A Call Activity shares the full process instance context, unlike a Subprocess which has its own context. Makes sense to me.
